Type of Services
LDK provided technical and consultancy assistance to the project supervisor, being the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), in the following project tasks:
- project management;
- assistance in site surveying;
- approval of contractor designs and studies;
- inspection of materials and equipment for procurement;
- supervision of the construction of distribution facilities and guidance to the contractor on specification conformity;
- commissioning and acceptance tests;
- provision of technical and managerial training courses for ECG personnel;
- organisation of programmes for customer education and promotion of electricity uses.
Description
The overall objective of this project, funded by the EDF, was to improve the welfare of the population in the western region of Ghana, by the elaboration of electricity supply in 110 villages and settlements spread in eleven administrative districts. The project included the construction of 300 km of medium and low voltage lines, as well as the installation of approximately 130 pole mounted transformers. After this 3 year long project, almost 8,000 new customers were connected to Ghana`s power grid.
