- training course for Romanian experts on financial analysis of energy efficiency projects.
Description
The objective of this project was the improvement of energy efficiency by introducing new advanced technologies in the wood industry of Romania. The project was completed in three phases:
Phase 1 - Assessment of the current situation and elaboration of the appropriate strategies:This phase included an assessment of the situation of the Romanian wood industry forecast till 2010, in view of the objectives stipulated in the White Paper of the European Commission for Renewable Energy Sources (RES) utilisation, and elaboration of strategy for the penetration of RES in the wood industry.
Phase 2 - Study and energy audit:Audits were conducted in two selected representative companies. The findings of the audits, being the corrective measures proposed for implementation, focused on the improvement of existing energy technologies in the sector. Feasibility studies were performed for each case. A financial analysis, based on cost-benefit criteria, highlighted the future investment opportunities and their substantiation.
Phase 3 - Promotion and dissemination activities:
The findings of the project were disseminated and promoted through a database, based on a market strategy for RES promotion. The database contained information regarding new and efficient energy technologies, adequate equipment for the wood industry, suppliers of equipment, financial and investment opportunities. In addition, one week training courses were organised by each of the EU partners focusing on advanced energy specific technologies and financial analysis. Finally, site visits in representative EU companies in the wood sector were organised.
