Description
The project provided assistance to the European Commission - DG Environment to ensure effective preparation of the depollution roadmap for the initiative Horizon 2020, presented for endorsement in 2006. By the adoption of the roadmap, support was provided in the specific actions required to implement the roadmap.
The main aim of the initiative was to reduce the level of pollution of the Mediterranean region by identifying and tackling the most significant pollution sources by the year 2020. The depollution initiative operates within existing political processes and institutions. It supports and enhances previously agreed actions and gives new impetus to efforts for reducing pollution in the Mediterranean Region.
