The services provided under the project are summarized as follows:
- Description of the environment sector value chain and key sub-sectors.
- Identification of key international and domestic trends for each subsector, technological developments and future prospects.
- Evaluation of the attractiveness of the environment sector.
- Evaluation of the relative competitiveness of the sector's businesses and identification of gaps in the value chain.
- Identification of institutional, operational and other barriers to development and / or improvement of competitiveness.
- Formation of a pilot, representative group of the sector's key players.
- Identification of development opportunities and alternative development strategies for the development of the sector's businesses in new markets, new products / services (scenarios - means and conditions - restrictions).
- Preparation of an action plan.
- Elaboration of policy recommendations for developing the field of environment and enhancing the competitiveness of the environment sector's enterprises.
Description
The project aims to develop - produce a coherent policy framework that will assist the development of the productive system of the environment sector in Greece, by anticipating changes that will come from the external environment, expecting to significantly affect the overall competitiveness status of the sector.
The project involves the mapping and understanding of the value-chain of the environmental sector which includes all those activities, in terms of services and products, primarily related to the collection, processing, reduction, prevention or elimination of pollution or any other degradation of the environment. These activities include green technologies, such as products and services that reduce environmental risk and minimize pollution and consumption of natural resources.
Under the project framework, it is attempted to evaluate the competitive position of the environmental sector and to identify the opportunities for further improvement. It is also attempted to identify the key international and domestic trends, technological developments and future prospects in the sector and the institutional, operational and other barriers to competitive development.
