Energean Oil & Gas, increasing investments for greater output at oil fields in the Gulf of Kavala area in Greece’s north, has presented the findings of its environmental and social impact assessment for projects in the Prinos region.

The impact assessment focused on Energean’s “Lamda” offshore platform, planned to conduct seven drilling projects at the “Epsilon” deposit in the Gulf of Kavala during 2017 and 2018, as well as the “Omikron” offshore platform being planned for North Prinos.

Company officials who presented the findings noted that Energean’s investments promise benefits for the local community and national economy, adding that Energean has worked the Prinos area for 35 years and effectively applied prevention methods to minimize the environmental impact of its operations.

The company will submit its environmental and social impact assessment to the Environment and Energy Ministry to be granted permits.

The impact assessment was presented by Dimitris Gontikas, vice president and managing director at Energean’s subsidiary firm Kavala Oil, Vassilis Tsetoglou, Energean’s health, safety and environment director, Kostas Ioannidis, director of the Sigma refinery in the Kavala region, and Kostas Nikolopoulos, a representative of the consulting firm LDK, speacializing in environmental studies.
