Water is a source under pressure and in scarcity due to pollution sources that degrade its quality. At the same time, climate change affects more and more the water cycle and availability. Both factors render water resources management a service in need.
LDK has been active in the field, well before the release of the Water Framework Directive (WFD 2000/60/EC). The WFD did not only have a big impact on the way water is perceived and should be dealt with (at least at EU level), but also created a great need for the introduction of sophisticated tools and methods in order to efficiently manage data and support decision making.
LDK follows closely the trends and developments taking place in this specialist area, and holds experience in the following key areas:
- River Basin Management Plan
- Water Quality Assessment
- Pollution Assessment and Control
- Implementation of Water Framework Directive
- Institutional Strengthening
- Water Demand Management
- Application of Decision Support System (DSS)
- Application of water models (hydraulics, groundwater, water quality)
- Drought Management
- Water treatment and supply
- Desalination technology
