LDK Consultants in the context of the EuropeAid funded Project “Development of Serbia’s Energy Planning Capacity (EuropeAid/135625/IH/SER/RS)”

, has recently commenced an extended 6-month Capacity Building Program in its Training Center in Serbia that focuses on the enhancement of the planning capacities in the energy sector. The Training is addressed to the representatives of the Ministry of Mining and Energy as well as all major energy companies and institutions in the country.

The training program focuses on two main areas and covers all supply and demand sub-sectors in the field of energy:
a. The first part is dedicated to the Training on the Serbian Energy Model System (SEMS) already developed in previous part of the project, on the basis of the TIMES model developed by the International Energy Agency.
The ultimate objective is to provide to the Ministry of Mining and Energy and to all energy sector companies, a powerful optimization tool that will allow them to project the future, develop evidence-based policies and utilize domestic resources in an optimum way. A unique novelty of this planning tool is the development of an additional web-based module that will support model users to conduct complex and tailored analysis through a very user-friendly environment.
b. The second component of the Training (to be launched at the beginning of 2019), focuses on the prioritization of key infrastructure projects including generation plants, transmission lines, natural gas pipelines, mining, renewables and other major investments of strategic character and importance for the country. This component will support the Ministry of Mining and Energy, as well as the sector companies to plan their investments in a way consistent with the Energy Strategy until 2035 and set the corresponding project priorities for the development of sustainable energy sector.
