Description

The project is part of the overall Northern Branch Lines (NBL). This will include three (3) new lines as extensions to the existing SAR network. These are the following:
  • Branch 1: Extending from the SAR railway network at Aljouf Intermodal Yard to Saudi Aramco Bulk (diesel and gasoline loading/unloading unit) in Sakaka, Jouf Province, with a length of 41.5kms,
  • Branch 2: Extends from the SAR Railway network at Al Jalimid to Saudi Armco Bulk plant (diesel and gasoline loading/unloading unit), in Turaif, Northern Boundary Province, with a length of 131.8km and
  • Branch 3: Extends from Branch line 2 to the future (planned) Ma'aden Processing Facility at Urn Wa'al, with a length of 35km
Environmental services have been in accordance with the PME guidelines for EIAs compilation as stated in Appendix 2.4 of General Environmental Regulations 2001 (GER 2001).
