Type of Services
Services provided by LDK in the context of the project included:
- an assessment of the implications from the implementation of Directive 96/92/EC;
- advise on the choice among potential power sector models;
- an assessment of the impacts of liberalisation on the competitive position and opportunities of EAC;
- an assessment of the development supply market in Cyprus;
- advice on trading arrangements and pricing policy as well as on strategies to be followed for unbundling of accounts;
- identification and advice of the changes needed to be effected for full harmonisation of the current legal and regulatory framework with the Acquis Communautaire in the electricity sector
Description
This project referred to the provision of technical assistance to the Electricity Authority of Cyprus (EAC) and the Republic of Cyprus in their efforts to prepare the electricity sector for the full entry into the European Union at the target date of January 1st, 2003. The scope of the project included advice on the choice of market model to meet the requirements of the Electricity Directive, implications of unbundling, trading arrangements, competitiveness of EAC, the supply business options, analysis of changes to legal framework, impacts of the liberalisation and a work plan for next steps.
