The project was funded by the Black Sea Trade and Development Bank as the final beneficiary of this study. The main objectives of the project included the assessment of the current environmental regulatory compliance of the Kremikovtzi Steel Industry facility, the evaluation of the potential for current and historical contamination liabilities, the assessment of the likely significant environmental impacts of the proposed project, the identification of further requirements (including EIAs or phase investigations), and the preparation, in conjunction with the site management, of an environmental action plan.
