  • economic analysis.

The technical study was carried out under a subcontract with a construction company biding for the project. It involved the detailed engineering design of the integrated facility, an operational economic feasibility analysis, and construction works scheduling.

Description

This project consisted of a detailed technical offer study for the construction of an integrated solid waste management facility of an annual capacity of 70,000 tones municipal and 10,000 tones agricultural waste for the Municipality of Chania on the island of Kriti, with an equivalent population of 80,000 inhabitants. In particular, the facility involves the following units:

  • materials recovery facility and composting plant (capacity: 270 tn/d municipal waste & 40 tn/d agricultural waste);
  • sanitary landfill, with a time horizon of 15 and 36 years (total capacity: 712,671 c.m. of compressed waste, density 0.85 tn/c.m.).

The overall budget of the investment project (construction works) was 25,279,530 Euro.
