Description

LDK S.A. was appointed by ALPHA BANK S.A. (the Bank) to carry out E&S Due Diligence for the project. The scope of the review and analysis was to verify that the project and the environmental permitting procedure were in compliance with the national legislative requirements; the E&S Policy of ALPHA BANK; and the Bank’s Performance Standards (PSs) – 2012 IFC Performance Standards on Social and Environmental Sustainability. According to the EU statistical classification codes NACE Rev. 2 , the project was ranked in the Categories D35.11 - Production of Electricity; D35.12 - Transmission of Electricity; and D35.14 - Trade of Electricity.

Derveni WF is located in the Municipality of Alexandroupoli, in the East Macedonia and Thrace Prefecture, constituting of 12 wind turbines VESTAS V-90 of 24 MW capacity as well as associated infrastructures such as the Control Center; a HV Power Substation (20/150 KV); subsurface MV cable of 8,15 km total length; 15 km of aerial HV power-line for the connection to the electricity transmission network, including 47 HV transmission pillars and access roads; and access roads of 15,15 km total length. The project was licensed on 09/09/2014, the electrification process was completed on 08/12/2014 and the operation started on 24/08/2015. It should be pointed out that the project is located within the Natura 2000 site SPA GR1110009 “Notio Dasiko Symblegma Evrou” on the Conservation of Wild Birds; and in the Important Bird Area GR005 “South Forest Complex of Evros Prefecture”.
